Dec 9th. As we enter the notorious Drakes Passage the sea starts to get rougher. Most people had very little sleep as the ship was pitching and rolling, with many people feeling sea sick. At this point in the world, it is the only place where the sea can go right the way round the earth and it comes to a bottle neck where Cape Horn and the Antarctic Peninsular are there is so much sea trying to get through that the sea level rises over 1.5meters, Plus with other factors like wind and currents that's what makes it the roughest part of the ocean.
